Reaction to Occupy Charleston

On October 26, 2011, in general, by Tom

I recently found out that the Occupy Wall Street protests have found their way to Charleston. While I like political activism, I couldn’t help it when my reaction to “Occupy Charleston” was:

We already are occupied, and have been since 1865.

After nearly a year of running Third Palmetto Republic, we have decided to change its focus and its organization. There are many reasons for this, mostly because the main two drivers of this group are relatively young and have to work for a living, so we don’t have the time or the money required to run a political organization.

We have officially dissolved the non-profit corporation, which means we won’t be taking donations, holding rallies, having meetings, or doing anything else officially as an organization.

However, we will continue to run this website and use it to spread articles, information, and materials that support the idea of Independence. For a clear explanation of our new focus, please see the updated “about” page, which begins:

Third Palmetto Republic is a political blog written by a few folks in South Carolina who believe in the independence of every individual and the natural right to your own life and to do with it as you see fit, so long as you abide by the non-aggression principle. To that end, we publish articles and materials on the subject of government to illustrate its evils and educate our fellow South Carolinians and anyone else who might be interested.

If you’re interested in writing on this site, then please contact us.

Third Palmetto Republic is working with the Tenth Amendment Center to bring a Nullify Now! Tour event to South Carolina!

These events focus on Nullification and how the Tenth Amendment protects the people of the states from intrusions by the Federal Government. They feature great speakers and very knowledgable men and women, and best of all they spread the word of liberty and independence!

In order to bring a Nullify Now! event to South Carolina, the TAC needs to raise at least $3000 to cover expenses. Luckily, there is a great way to do this, using a website called “The Point.” Simply go to the SC Nullify Now page (or use the widget below) and sign up for a donation amount. As an added bonus, there are benefits to being a donor, including free tickets, VIP seats, and more!

We think Nullification is a very important issue for the people of South Carolina to understand as we try to take back control of our government, so please sign up if you can and let’s bring the Nullify Now! tour to South Carolina!

Independence Booth at the Charleston Gun Show

On January 13, 2011, in general, SC, by Tom

We’ve scheduled our next public event on Meetup.com:

Everyone come on out and man the booth at the next Charleston Gun Show in Ladson, SC!

This is a great opportunity to reach out to a captive audience about the issues of Independence, Nullification, and Secession. With the recent news of the federal government looking to increase gun restrictions, and the recent introduction of gun freedom laws in the General Assembly, this is the perfect time to get out in public and spread the word about the merits of Independence to protect us from the incursions and the tyranny of the Feds.

We’re going to setup a booth just outside the front door of the Gun show in a great location where the line forms for people going inside. We’ll be right next to the Libertarian party booth with Johnny Whiting and we will be the only two political groups in that location.

Please keep an eye on the website (http://palmettorepublic.org) for more details and for some 2nd Amendment materials to hand out. Also for more information on the gun show check out their website!

Everyone that can make it, come on out! We’ll be there all day and we need as many people as possible!

How do you like this Handout Design?

On December 31, 2010, in general, by Tom

In an effort to create some new materials to assist with Independence Activism in South Carolina, I have created a new one page flyer that anyone can download and print, and I’m working on creating a color postcard. I’ve been kicking around a few ideas, and here’s my favorite. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments section!
