Tonight several of us got together at The Highlander in North Augusta. We talked about a number of upcoming events and while having fun got some good work done. We are going to have a family picnic at Redcliffe Plantation, a rally in Burnettetown, SC and another meeting coming up in two weeks in Aiken. I’ll be posting details for everything in the coming days.

The independence rally today in North Augusta, SC was a success and a lot of fun. We started with just a few people but by the last couple hours of the rally we had a nice showing of folks – including two young people who made the long drive down from Atlanta and were very enthusiastic about liberty, as well as two folks who drove down from Columbia. Three different media groups came out to interview and photograph us (we’ll keep y’all updated on any coverage we receive). We received no middle fingers or negative comments from the people who drove by – all our feedback from them was positive, including many people who honked their horns, gave us thumbs up or otherwise signaled their approval with what we were doing. One man did stop to tell us we were basically promoting a lost cause. His suggestion was to vote Republican, as if South Carolina doesn’t do that every election anyhow – and what does that get us other than more of the same and more Big Government?
After the rally we drove over to Augusta to Jon’s house, where he and his wife were very kind to host us (they even had the pillars of their porch decorated with SC symbols!). We enjoyed refreshments, talked about the rally, made plans for future events and even recorded a video with us commenting on the Glenn Beck/Lincoln temple rally in DC today (the picture here only shows a few of us who showed up – we had a nice group, in fact, and certainly enjoyed each other’s company).
It was a lot of fun and I’m sorry for the folks who missed it today. Hopefully y’all can join us next time. We’ll be posting the details for our next rally soon and hope to build on today’s success!
I took some time this evening to get ready for tomorrow’s secession rally in North Augusta. The flags and signs are in the truck waiting on tomorrow where they will once again proclaim our desire to be free and independent of Washington, DC. I’ll see y’all at the rally!
